Thoughts on “Eternity”
by Llona Doubet
Eternity, what is it we perceive when we think of eternity.
Webster’s dictionary defines it as “a long period of time that
seems endless [an eternity of waiting], the endless time after
death. But what exactly does it mean to each of us individually?
Have we ever stopped long enough to contemplate eternity as it
relates to our path or mission on this planet and what that means
to us after we give up this shell of a body and move on.
Quite a few years ago I began to think of my life as it related to
eternity and the universe. This expanded thinking not only put
everything in my daily life into perspective but I found that this
shift in my thought patterns was effective in bring me comfort,
releasing fear and helping clear blockages. This allowed me to
create more easily the path that my higher self chose for me.
Very often I would feel overwhelmed with projects that had to be
finished in a shorter time frame than the work would actually
allow. My manager was not very sympathetic to the situation and so
I would sit at my computer and begin to feel my stomach tighten
up, as well as feel the nerve endings in the back of my neck
tingle and tighten all the way up my spine. As soon as I became
aware of this situation I immediately sat back with my hands in my
lap and controlled my breathing. As I put myself in a meditative
state I began to focus on the meaning of; In the Span of Eternity.
What was the essence of this job, this project, and it’s meaning
in my life. What was it’s meaning to the fulfillment of my purpose
on this planet – in the span of eternity. Suddenly, everything
came into clarity. The knots in my stomach left, I no longer felt
the tightness up the back of my neck and somehow, someway the
completion of the project met the deadline. What I had done was to
trust my Higher Self to guide me through a critical moment in
time.
How many of us have “asked” for spirit to show us our purpose.
Very often I have people coming to me confused and looking for
direction but not once have they gone deep into their subconscious
during meditation and asked that very poignant question. Spirit
please show me my purpose. Could it be that we are too afraid to
get an answer. Maybe the answer we get does not follow the path
that our ego has chosen for us. Maybe our mission will detach us
from the trappings of the world that we have become accustomed to.
It is a fact that most people never reach their purpose and so are
left to reincarnate at another time and pick up where they left
off.
Consider trust as a way to overcome fear in our lives. Trust in a
God that is only LOVE, a GOD that only wants the best for us and
has given us the help we require to fulfil our mission if we only
ask. In the span of eternity this life is over quickly. We take a
vacation. We come back to continue our spirit work.
God Bless you on your journey.
