“ IN THE SPAN OF ETERNITY”
A Continuation of Consciousness

In the August issue I shared some thoughts with you on “eternity”. I would now like to delve a little deeper into how we may go about seeking answers to questions we may have about putting our thoughts with regard to eternity and our role on this planet, in this galaxy, in this universe into perspective.

Since we all come from different perceptions everything we see around us can be called an illusion. This illusion is only true for us because we see everything through our thoughts, our emotions and the experiences that influence us as individuals. These perceptions are made up of our childhood upbringing, losses, education, emotional trauma and any and all of what we have experienced in this life. We are also born with a subconscious perception, which helps to make up our personality.

The development of the soul path is in reality the development of awareness. It is the development of conscious awareness. Without this awareness we will never be able to discover and fulfill our purpose. Our first duty is to strip away illusion. We must first and foremost be true to ourselves. For most of us this will prove to be a great accomplishment in itself. How do I give up the decisions my parents told me were best for me? How do I give up the answers my friends are always more than willing to provide for me? How do I give up the fact that I rely on choices based on popular opinion? When will I start to follow my heart and not my head? I’m sure each of us can remember a time when we were moved to a certain “gut” instinct or reaction to a situation but we chose to ignore what our inner selves was trying to tell us. We wound up either passing up an important opportunity or getting ourselves into a situation we would have rather not have been in. Well, awareness is nothing but that. Awareness is understanding what the truth really is and basing our choices on that awareness. However, to get to that awareness we must begin to release old messages or old tapes from our consciousness. We must tune in to our own identities and feel secure and confident with the decisions we make.

We must get out of our heads and into our hearts. Then we will know that the choices we are making, weather for good or for bad are made solely as one more event on our soul path. And each event on our soul path will take us closer to the fulfillment of our purpose on this planet. I encourage each of you to begin with a decision to engage in some form of meditation. The trick is to start to set aside at least twenty minutes every day and preferably at the same time. If you have never meditated before a good way to start is to play some soft music, relax and try to disconnect from all thought. It is most important for you to be patient with yourself. You might also pray, read the bible or whatever you feel might provide you with a source of inspiration. Before you enter into this reflective time ask you guides and/or angels to let you become aware of your purpose on this planet. Continue to ask and become aware of the events in your life that might offer you an opportunity to embark on your purpose.

What we must all keep in mind is that this is not an overnight achievement. Remember that a baby must crawl before it can walk and walk before it can run. The baby usually winds up with more than a few bumps and bruises in order to accomplish this task, but it doesn’t give up. The baby falls down and gets right back up again and keeps going. The awareness of our purpose and its ultimate accomplishment is not the path of least resistance. We have only to look at the life of Jesus Christ to understand this. In the span of eternity our path is filled with more than a few bumps and bruises. In the span of eternity we might accomplish crawling in one lifetime, walking in another and running in still another. Remember that we reincarnate where we left off in the previous life.

Once we discover our purpose and succeed in climbing that mountain we can then experience the love, beauty, peace and happiness that we all are in search of.
